Mardelle Prenger, 94, Linn formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Harbor Place near Linn.

She was born Nov. 13, 1926, to the late Louis C. and Bertha (Carsten) Burbach in Cole County.

She was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Prenger Oct. 14, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City.

Mardelle was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson City High School.

She was a homemaker and co-owned and helped her husband with the family farm and Lawrence Prenger Auction Service in the Jefferson City area for over 50 years. There were many days and nights that she was typing up sale bills.

Mardelle was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, raising chickens, playing bingo and crafts. Mardelle always enjoyed making people smile and always put others before herself. She had special sayings: “See you later alligator” and “Cold feet, warm heart, dirty feet, no sweetheart.”

Mardelle was preceded in death husband of 60 years, Lawrence; parents, Louis and Bertha; daughter-in-law, Diane Prenger; granddaughter, Jennifer Prenger; and brothers, Willis and Ernest Burbach.

She is survived by sons, Daniel Prenger and life partner LaDonna Trachsel and Allan Prenger and wife Phyllis, all of Taos; grandchildren, Wesley Prenger and wife Bethany, Caleb Prenger and wife Jennifer and Emily and Eric Prenger; great-grandchildren, Clinton, Estella and Anna; along with nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.

There will be an additional visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. (today) Wednesday, Sept. 1, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City with Fr. Donald Antweiler officiating. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery in Taos.

Memorial contributions suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
