Maries R-2 COVID numbers jump to school-year high
Maries R-2 School District saw its highest jump in COVID-19 positive cases and isolation numbers as of Jan. 18  after Jan. 14 numbers reported low infections.
Superintendent Dr. Lenice Basham said the district will continue to keep an eye on the numbers.
“We do have an increase in the number of students who are positive and the number of students who are in isolation,” Basham said. “This is the highest number we have had since school started.”
According to the COVID-19 Dashboard on Mariesr2.org, there are 17 positive cases district-wide, up from seven the week before.
Additionally, 13 students at the high school were in isolation for in-school exposure and 21 students district-wide were in isolation for out-of-school exposure, a total of 34 students.
Of the 17 positive cases, six were staff members, up from Jan. 14 numbers that reported two staff positive cases.
“We will continue to monitor our students and staff as the week progresses,” Basham said.
The Dashboard is updated at the end of the school day on Tuesdays (after The Advocate’s deadline) and Fridays.
