Marilyn Arline Plassmeyer, 91, Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at her residence.
She was born April,13, 1929, to the late George William Onken and Irma Davis Onken.
She was united in marriage to Anthony Francis Plassmeyer, Dec. 27, 1948, in Jefferson City. They made their home in Westphalia until 1967 when they bought a farm on the Osage River near Folk. In 1930, the family moved to Jefferson City.
Marilyn was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Jefferson City Junior College and the University of Missouri.
She was originally hired part-time by Three Rivers Electric Cooperative to edit their membership newsletter. Two years later she went to work for them full-time until retiring as Manager of the Members Services Department following 32 years of faithful employment. Following her retirement, Marilyn volunteered for 15 years in reading with Fatima Elementary and Cedar Hill schools until she retired at age 89.
She was a founding member and past president of the Westphalia Historical Society and was a recipient of several professional and civic community awards although her proudest achievement was her family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by husband, Anthony and sister, Marcia Burwell.
She is survived by children, Cheryl Rutz and husband Joe of Washington, Anthony “Chip” Plassmeyer and wife Diane of Livermore, Colo. and Joan Fick and husband Dennis of Westphalia; eight grandchildren, Shelby Bunge and husband Jay of Labadie, Carrie Freese, and husband Joe, Leslie Haddox and husband Joe and Anthony Rutz and wife Andrea, all of Washington; Curt Plassmeyer and wife Katie of Estes Park, Colo., Angela Matthewman and husband Andrew of Windsor, Colo.; Ryan Fick and wife Stacy of Jefferson City and Casey Fick and wife Adrienne of Columbia; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Her body was donated to the University of Missouri.
Memorials contributions suggested to Jefferson City Animal Shelter or Jefferson City Boys and Girls Club in Jefferson City.
