Mary L. Arbes, age 84 of Linn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at Tipton Oaks Manor in Tipton.

She was born Dec. 1, 1936, to the late Alois and Wilhelmina “Maggie” (Henzler) Arbes in Hydro, Okla.

She was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in Jefferson City and a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in St. Joseph where she received her RN degree.

Mary served in the U. S. Air Force Nurses Corp from 1959 until 1961. She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital and various other hospitals in the area.

She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality, Association of Operating Room Nurses A.O.R.N. and the National Association of Orthopedic Nursing N.A.O.R.

Mary enjoyed fishing, traveling and singing in the choir at St. George Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by parents, Alois and Wilhelmina; brother, Martin Arbes and wife Gail; and nephew, Paul Arbes.

Mary is survived by niece, Marla Nilges and husband Tom of Jefferson City; nephew, Darin Arbes of Bonnots Mill; great-nephews, Bryton Nilges of Springfield and Conner Nilges of Jefferson City; as well as numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 12 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, at St. George Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Linn with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo officiating. Interment will be in St. George Parish Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
