Mary June Powell, 98, Kansas City, formerly of Dixon, passed way Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 in Truman Lakewood in Kansas City.

She was born April 17, 1923, to the late Frank Guy and Eliza Obedience “Bedie” (Davis) Schneider in the city of St. Louis.

She was united in marriage to Charles Forrest Powell, Oct. 27, 1967, in Jefferson City.

Mary was currently a member of the Gathering Baptist Church in Independence and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was employed with City National Savings and Loan in Jefferson City as a bookkeeper for 15 years prior to moving to the state of California in 1975.

Mary was preceded in death by husband, Charles; parents, Frank and Bedie; aunts, Iva Davis and Gladys Glenn and husband, Dr. W. L. Glenn.

She is survived by step-daughter, Anita Millhillan of Riverside, Calif.; three step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the Dixon Cemetery in Dixon followed by a graveside funeral service at Gathering Baptist Church in Independence, with Pastor Francis O’Connell officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Dixon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.
