Meta held its 4th of July celebration on Monday. It was postponed due to extremely dry weather and fireworks presented no danger this week. This year’s sponsors were Diamond Pet Foods, Mid America Bank, St. Thomas Babbtown Mutual Insurance, Studio M Portrait Creations, Stimulus Broadband, Dale and Karla Buechter, in memory of Louis and Donna Hendricks, Lois Doran, in memory of Bill Doran and Ernie Reed, Ivie Helton, in honor of Meta Fire Chief Kenny Helton and all Meta Fire & Rescue volunteers, and Marine Cpl. Ethan Helton and all military veterans, William Kutz, in memory of Carolyn Kutz, Amy Schmidt, Wilma Sturtz, in memory of Ed Sturtz, Marilyn Thomas, in memory of Bock family members living and deceased, and Otto Wankum, in memory of Melanie Wankum.
