Osage County residents of voting age will have an opportunity to vote and elect members to the University of Missouri Extension Council in January. The elected and appointed members of the extension council will guide and direct extension work within the county.

Kim Sallin (Crawford Township), Karen Thompson (Jefferson Township), and Charles DeMariano (Benton Township) have been nominated for two-year terms beginning in February 2022.

Additional nominations may be made by petition of 25 or more qualified voters residing within the district, filed with the council within 20 days after the publication of this notice of election.

“Anyone, 18 years of age or older, interested in education and the progress of our county should vote for the nominee of their choice in their district,” said Extension Specialist Elizabeth Anderson. “The resources of the universities are available to us. It is our responsibility to put these resources to effective use.”

The election will run from Jan. 10-31 and can be completed online at https://extension.missouri.edu/counties/osage/county-council/county-council-election or paper ballots may available for pickup at county banks and post offices and then may be returned to the Extension Office (205 E. Main Street, Linn) before the voting period ends.

Outgoing members are Treasurer Jeanette Vocks (Crawford Township), Amanda Brandt (Linn Township), Lindsay Luebbering (Jackson Township), Secretary Jennifer Bacon (Jefferson Township).

“We thank them for their continued efforts on behalf of the citizens of the county,” said Anderson.

Council members whose terms continue are Chair Nathan Woehr (Washington Township), Vice Chair Patsy Luebbert (Washington Township), Treasurer Rhonda Mitchem (Benton Township), Sharon Jeoffroy (Jefferson Township), Ellen Kliethermes (Linn Township), Michael Luebbering (Jackson Township), Amy Niederhelm (Crawford Township), Danielle Tilly (Benton Township), Brent Dudenhoeffer of MFA, Keith Neier of Farm Bureau; Athletic Ambassador Paul Stratman, Presiding Commissioner Darryl Griffin, Western District Commissioner Larry Kliethermes, and Eastern District Commissioner John Trenshaw.

County extension council members work throughout the year with MU Extension staff members in planning and making recommendations for educational programs.

University of Missouri Extension, through the University of Missouri System and Lincoln University, offers educational programs in agriculture, home economics, business and industry, community development, youth development (4-H), and various continuing education courses, seminars, and workshops.
