New president increases employment in unlikely field

One of Joe Biden’s first official acts as the 46th President of the United States was to sign an executive order to stop the Keystone XL oil pipeline and eliminate up to 11,000 jobs. There are those who argue about that number.
The exact number is not important, now that the Biden administration has increased employment and pay for another group of individuals just as he promised.
In fact I don’t think Biden or anyone in his administration foresaw this. This increase didn’t come as new green energy jobs and they are not high paying union jobs. Come to think of it, these jobs are not even in the United States.
This upturn in employment is for a group of workers employed by drug cartels south of the border known as coyotes or human smugglers.
According to data from the Mexican Migration Project, Mexicans who enter the United States illegally by crossing the southern border pay coyote fees of $3,000 to $4,000.
It’s only logical that with the surge in illegals entering Texas and other southern states, Mexican drug cartels will have to hire more coyotes to keep up with the demand.
Of course these same drug cartels that are taking advantage of this boom in human traffic are also using this opportunity to flood U.S. cities with more fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. So they have to hire more drug smugglers, and more people to manufacture the drugs.
I’m sure that when all is said and done this increase in employment will more than make up for the jobs lost on the oil pipeline.
Last Wednesday, U.S. border officials released their report showing just under 30,000 unaccompanied minors had entered the U.S. from Mexico in February — almost the same as all of last year.
A large portion of these minors — 70 to 80 percent — arrive in the U.S. with the help of human smugglers. In order to recoup their costs and turn a profit, The Congressional Research Service states that these smugglers sell some of the migrant children to human traffickers for forced labor and prostitution. The Biden administration can take credit for this also.
Including the unaccompanied minors, the U.S. Border Patrol last week reported the apprehension of 101,535 illegal immigrants at our southern border during the month of February. They also estimate an additional 26,000 who were not caught.
In comparison fewer than 37,000 illegal immigrants where caught in February 2020.
At this rate — and they are predicted to increase in the coming months — that would amount to 1.5 million illegals entering the country in Biden’s first year in office.
All this will mean billions in new profits every year for the six Mexican drug cartels, thanks to Biden.
I’ll bet these cartels thank God each day that Biden won the presidency in November.
The question needs to be asked of the Biden Administration — and of every Democrat who voted for him — how many illegal immigrants is too many in a year? Is it one million, two million, five million or more? What is the goal or limit?
As with everything there is a cost. A report last year by the Federation for American Immigration Reform titled “Small Migrant Populations, Huge Impacts” showed that illegal immigrants cost between $4,000 and $6,500 annually per person. This figure is above any tax benefit they provide.
The study was over 10 states with small numbers of illegal immigrants. All together these states spent about $454 million yearly on illegals for the provision of essential services such as education and health care.
This is money that could have been spent on programs for U.S. citizens.
The costs do not stop there. Illegal immigrants affect wages.
According to a Jan. 2020 report by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office titled “The Foreign-Born Population and Its Effects on the U.S. Economy and the Federal Budget—An Overview,” immigration has exerted downward pressure on the wages of relatively low-skilled workers who are already in the country, regardless of their birthplace.
This affects everyone without a high school diploma most, keeping them in poverty.
But we can always look on the bright side. Many of those crossing the border got a free t-shirt with Biden’s name on it.
