Paul Gilbert, 85, Holts Summit, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Capital Regional Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 3, 1936, to the late Paul Leroy and Emma Marie (Beavers) Gilbert in Chicago, Ill.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Hermania Renneke Dec. 17, 1966.

Paul was employed with the International Shoe Factory in Jefferson City prior to attending Central Tech in Kansas City and earning a degree in computer technology. Paul and Hermania then moved to Phoenix, Ariz. where he took a position with Honeywell as a computer trouble shooter/technician. They remained in Phoenix for 13 years prior to moving back home to Missouri, where he was a custodian for Central United Church of Christ for several years.

Paul was a member of the Cedar City Lions Club. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Paul enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed classical music, was a ham radio operator, played harmonica and loved his model trains.

Paul was preceded in death by parents, Paul Leroy and Emma Marie; brother, Donald Lee Gilbert (16); grandparents, A.T. and Lily Beavers; brother-in-law, Leroy Renneke; sister-in-law, Viola Renneke.

He is survived by wife of 55 years, Hermania of Holts Summit; brothers-in-law, Anthony Renneke of Argyle, Sylvester Renneke and wife Doris of Topeka, Kan.; sister-in-law, Barbara Renneke of Argyle; nephew, Richard Renneke and wife Angela of Los Alamos, N.M.; nieces, Jeanette Renneke of Wichita, Kan., Christina Yeung and husband Jeff and Rebecca Saunders, all of Olathe, Kan; and special friends Brandon Hutto and cousin, Jennifer Wood; his beloved ShihTzu, Marley; as well as, many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., (today) Wednesday, Jan. 12, followed by the funeral service at Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Heart of Missouri Lions.
