Paul Louis Laux, 82, Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Jefferson City Manor, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born June 5, 1938, to the late Victor Henry and Celeste Josephine (Hentges) Laux in Jefferson City.
He was united in marriage to Frances Marie Boessen Aug. 25, 1962, in Westphalia.
Paul was a 1956 graduate of Helias High School. He served his country in the U. S. Army and eight years in the National Guard, receiving the “Outstanding Achievement Award” in 1961.
Paul worked for 55 years at Schriefer’s Office Equipment, and became part owner for 25 years before retiring in 2007. He also he owned and operated Senate Court Apartments and Bella Vista Apartments in Jefferson City, but his greatest joy was farming at the family farm in Jefferson City.
Paul was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He volunteered at Helias High School for over 20 years operating the clock for girls’ basketball games, helping at the Helias Booster BBQs for over 30 years, helping on the Dream Team that met every Monday doing odd jobs, and was an Athletic Booster member for over 35 years.
He was twice named the Grand Marshall for the Helias Homecoming Parade, was the recipient of the Jim Rackers “Commitment to Excellence Award” in 2006 and was inducted into the Helias Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2012.
Paul enjoyed gardening and could absolutely fix anything. He loved his two dogs Millie and Gracie.
He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Celeste; brother, James Laux and wife Linda; and sister-in-law, Debra Laux.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Frances; children, Nancy Schaffer and husband Danny of Jefferson City; Steven Laux and wife Stephanie of Koelztown; and Julie Laux of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Paige and Olivia Schaffer, Morgan, Lucas, Nolan and Logan Laux, Cameron, Casey and Carlee Abbott; siblings, Mary Dorge and husband Alban of Osage Beach; John Laux and wife Mary of Gerald; Vincent and Joseph Laux, both of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., with Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 3, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia.
