FREEBURG — The Missouri Department of Agriculture Meat and Poultry Inspection Program (MPIP) has suspended all operations at Red Barn Butchering (establishment No. 230) in Freeburg. This suspension includes slaughter and processing of inspected, custom exempt (not for sale) and retail exempt products.
MPIP staff members found unsanitary conditions during Jan. 23 inspection. As a result, all slaughter and processing permissions were suspended as the investigation continues.
MPIP has reason to believe that consumers may be in possession of adulterated or misbranded product. Anyone who conducted business with Red Barn Butchering after Jan. 23, including meat processing or retail purchase, is encouraged to contact the MDA Meat and Poultry Inspection Program at (573) 522-1242.
