Ronald L. “Bill” Moreland, 78, Belle, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Stonebridge of Owensville.

He was born Feb. 24, 1947, a son to the late Grady and Nellie (Chambers) Moreland in Lanes Prairie.

He was a long-time member of the Belle First Christian Church, and a 1965 graduate of Belle High School.

Following high school, Bill proudly served his country in the U. S.  Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was united in marriage to Janet Herron June 29, 1997, in the mountains of Pine, Colo.

Bill had been employed at both the Belle middle school and the Belle high school as a janitor for over 10 years, and also worked at ABB in Jefferson City as well as the Callaway nuclear plant.

He loved anything cowboy. From his belt buckles to anything with a cowboy theme he could find at antique stores, Bill collected them. He liked to go on trail rides in Eminence when he was younger and enjoyed sitting on his back deck watching his horses graze when he got older.

Bill enjoyed watching Lonesome Dove as well as many other westerns and reading his Western Horseman Magazines. He was a joker with a very sharp wit and enjoyed sitting around the liars table at JJ’s or the Dinner Belle drinking coffee and solving the world’s problems. He loved taking gravel road trips in “Old White” which was his old Chevy truck but most of all he loved the times spent with his family. Bill will be missed greatly by his family and those that knew him

He was preceded in death by parents, Grady and Nellie; son, George Kelly, III; brother, Gene Moreland; and sisters, Dorothy Smith and Betty Hayes.
