In the last meet of the year before districts at New Haven on Saturday, the Chamois Pirates earned several medals at last weekend’s Fatima Invitational.
“We had a lot of medals for the boys’ team,” said Coach John Leach. “The girls were really close to a medal but they are getting better all the time. It was rainy day, so it was not the best conditions, but I’m proud of the kids for their efforts.”
The boys team finished third behind Fatima and Dixon, as Evert Mehmert won the 400m dash (1:03.20), Caleb Keilholz was first in the 3200m run (11:12.19), Brayden Cotton claimed the shot put (38’5), and Dawson Brandt won the discus (114’7).
Keilholz also placed second in the shot put (36’6) and third in the 1600m run (2:23.94), Cotton earned second in the discus (107’1), while Jaxon Wuelling finished second in the 800m run (2:21.15), and Grayson Gerloff was third in the 800m run (2:58).
The 4x800 team of Grayson Gerloff, J. Wuelling, Brandt, and Keilholz ran a 9:31.41 for second place, and the same runners finished third in the 4x400 (4:02.24).
With just three runners, the Lady Pirates finished fifth, as Savanah Sieg placed third in the discus (84’8).

Chamois also ran at the Guy Rush Memorial at California on Thursday, where Keilholz won the 3200m run (11:12.19) and took second in the shot put (PR, 40’11), Brandt was first in the discus (123’1), and Cotton won the shot put (PR, 42’0) and finished second in the discus (PR, 120’8). The 4x800 team of Bill Kirsch, J. Wuelling, Kaden Wuelling, and Keilholz won in 9:53.65, and the 4x400 team of Kirsch, J. Wuelling, K. Wuelling, and Brandt finished third in 3:51.53.
