A golf tournament with elements of “The Amazing Race” resulted in the State Tech Cup on May 19, as 16 teams participated in competitions across the Linn campus. Contests revolved around technical programs.
“I think the best way to describe this event is adventurous fun,” said Vice President of External Relations Shannon Grus. “The event went well, and all of the participating teams had a great time. They enjoyed the different competitions and thought it was a genius way to see and experience the entire campus.”
Teams spent time on some heavy equipment, hung out in the Health Science Building, and even got in front of a green screen. State Tech also held challenges in aviation, utilities, digital marketing, and many others.
Teams were judged at each location, and the winning team, Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO), took home the State Tech Cup.
“Teams were challenged, laughed, and had fun competing to take home the coveted State Tech Cup,” said Grus.
State Tech welcomed Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe to campus as the events Honorary Chair.
“We are so pleased that Lt. Gov. Kehoe was the honorary chair for our inaugural State Tech Cup event,” said Grus. “His support of State Tech and all we do for workforce development in Missouri is so appreciated.”
Grus anticipates the event growing next year to be an even bigger success.
