Tessie Marie Gentges, 90, Linn, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 7, 1930, to the late Peter J. and Clora (Gray) Haggerty in Vienna.
She was united in marriage to Henry Alex Gentges, April 18, 1950, in Vienna.
Tessie attended Vienna Public School. She was employed with Scholastic in Jefferson City and later as a cashier at Wallis Oil Company retiring in 2003. Tessie was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, St. Ann’s Sodality, St. George Choir, Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Married Partiers Dance Club in Linn. She was also a volunteer at Good Shepard Food Pantry.
Tessie enjoyed flowers and gardening, fishing, and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball.
She was preceded in death by parents, Peter and Clora; husband, Henry; sisters, LaDonna Buscher, Mary Catherine Haggerty and Virginia Stratman; brother, Harold Haggerty; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Buscher.
Tessie is survived by sons, Harold Gentges of Linn, Randy Gentges and his wife Donna of Sedalia, and Kurt Gentges and his wife Karen of Tipton; daughters, Marilyn McIntyre and her husband Tom of Weldon Springs, Carolyn Hackmann and her husband Russell of Herculaneum, Debbie Nilges and Lisa Spicer, both of Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; three grand-dogs; 17great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Clemens Haggerty and his wife Carol of Lake Ozark; sister, Lorraine Parker and her husband Gene of Jefferson City; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial all at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin and Fr. I.C. Medina officiating. Interment will be in St. George Parish Cemetery in Linn.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Good Shepherd Food Pantry or St. George Catholic Church in Linn.
