Truck damages historic home in Bonnots Mill

Just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, a C.R. England tractor-trailer rig made a wrong turn in Bonnots Mill, heading north on Church Hill Road after passing a “no trucks” restriction sign. He then attempted a right turn on Iris Ave. Failing that turn, his trailer collided with the corner of the house on the southeast corner.

It was a "notable building" in the Bonnots Mill Historic District. Road and Bridge Foreman Ron Kempker brought pictures of the accident scene for the commissioners to view.

"We do have our sign up," Kempker asserted, displaying a photograph of it.

The damaged home was the third house past the sign.

This accident also damaged a hydrant and several citizens were left without water well into the next day.

"They've got all kinds of water issues," said Kempker.
