Two Chamois men charged following drug bust

Posted

Bryent Wells, 28, and Jesse JC Hannis, 28, both of Chamois, have been charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance, delivered of a controlled substance, and unlawful use of a weapon (possession by a felon) following a drug bust at the home they shared.
What began as a conversation related to tips received about drug use at the residence turned into a full search of the premises. According to a probable cause statement filed by the Mid Missouri Drug Task Force, an officer from that group and Osage County Sheriff’s Capt. Travis Schaffer enchanted a very strong odor of marijuana when Wells opened the door. When asked, Wells said no one inside the house had a medical marijuana card but denied consent to enter, at first.
He was advised that the situation could not be ignored, considering the strength of the smell emanating from the residence. At this point, Wells noted that Hannis was in the home, and granted consent for the officers to enter, and both allowed a search of the house.
In a bedroom identified as belonging to Hannis, officers seized $5,220 in cash, six bags containing approximately 192, 14, 11, 18, 46, and 95 grams of marijuana, respectively, along with a bag that contained approximately four grams of what appeared to be psilocybin mushrooms, a piece of aluminum foil containing 79 tabs of LSD, a partial bag of 100 silicone three-milliliter containers commonly used to store THC oil, and a receipt from a Colorado business for marijuana buds totaling $304.
Officers found in the bedroom belonging to Wells a Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun, a 22-caliber rifle, one bag with approximately 11 grams and another with approximately 16 grams of marijuana, a bag containing approximately 44 grams of marijuana cigarette butts, four vials of an unknown substance, $1,000 in case, and a piece of aluminum foil containing 52 tabs of LSD.
In the living room, Hannis and Wells claimed items from specific areas as their own. Hannis said three bags of marijuana (29, 20, and 12 grams, respectively), a black digital scale, a marijuana grinder, and a silicone mold were his. Wells claimed ownership of a bag containing approximately 76 grams of marijuana, along with two glass jars containing 35 and 34 grams of marijuana, respectively, along with a marijuana grinder, six silicone containers with small amounts of oil/wax, a digital scale, and a smoking pipe containing marijuana residue.
In t he dining room/kitchen, approximately 869 grams of THC butter was found in the refrigerator, approximately 154 grams of marijuana oil/wax was found in the freezer, approximately 221 grams of liquid THC oil was found in a mason jar, another pint mason jar contained approximately 664 grams of marijuana oil, and officers located a half-pint mason jar containing marijuana oil/wax. Additionally, a magical butter m maker with molds was found, along with a large bag of empty capsules, three silicone gummy bear molds, gelatin, and a large bottle of glycerin.
Wells and Hannis admitted to making marijuana edibles, according to the probable cause statement. Hannis also said he had been lazy and not made any edibles in a while, and that people had been asking for them. Officers wrote that it was evident the molds had been used to manufacture the marijuana butter that was found in the fridge with the Magical Butter logo imprint.
During a subsequent interview, Hannis admitted to manufacturing and selling marijuana, and to possessing LSD and mushrooms.
Wells told authorities that both he and Hannis were selling marijuana, and admitted to owning the firearms located at the home.
Both are being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
