Walter Francis Rehagen, 88, Westphalia, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 3, 1933, to the late Otto and Lucy (Herx) Rehagen in Westphalia. 

He was united in marriage to Theresa Woehr June 18, 1960, in Folk.

Walter was a 1951 graduate of Westphalia High School.

He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1956-1958.

Walter worked as a life-long farmer and helped to start the Rehagen Bros. Trucking company with his sons.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club.  Walter also served on the MFA State Board for several years and was a member of the state dairy farmers association.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Fatima High School sports.

Walter was preceded in death by parents, Otto and Lucy; infant brother, James Rehagen; and brothers-in-law, Elmer Frank, Bob Schulte and Leonard Sanning.

He is survived by wife, Theresa of Westphalia; children, Mike Rehagen and wife Brenda, Ron Rehagen and wife Donna, Sharon Breese and husband Jim and Judy Williams and husband Charles, all of  Westphalia and Jan Heckemeyer and husband Richard of St. Thomas; 18 grandchildren; eight  great-grandchildren with two on the way; and siblings, Mary Frank of Jefferson City, Evelyn Schulte of Argyle, Helen Sanning of Taos and Fred Rehagen and wife Margaret of Westphalia.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. (today)Wednesday, March 23, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 24,  at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Anthony Viviano officiating.

Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or to Hospice Compassus.
