WESTPHALIA — Michael Welschmeyer, 42, of Westphalia, was killed early Saturday morning after an ATV crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash, the victim was ejected from the northbound 2021 Polaris Ranger 1000 he was driving after he went into a left curve and then off the right side of the road. He returned to the roadway, then traveled off the left side of the roadway, finally returning to the southbound lane before the vehicle overturned.
The accident occurred at about 12:25 a.m. on Hwy. 133, south of Rt. EE.
Welschmeyer was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. Saturday by Osage County Coroner A. J. Probst.
Highway Patrol Cpl. B.R. Lange investigated the accident with assistance from Conservation Agents Stoner and Hamblin, and the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
Welschmeyer was taken to Trimble Funeral Homes in Westphalia. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 7), with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Folk, with the Rev. Dylan Schrader officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
