Dear Editor.
The passing of retired editor, Tom Warden, triggered some special memories for me of the Warden family.
I feel blessed to have known four generations of that special Gasconade County family. Each of those four generations have (and are) putting their heart and soul into the publishing of The Gasconade County Republican. Each issue informs us of events that are coming or special events that have happened and need to be recognized.
I am of the generation where the ‘written word’ is very special. The Gasconade County Republican’s issues have been in my reading inventory for six decades! Is it always perfect? Are you always perfect?
Through the years the paper has grown from covering only Owensville to presently adopting neighboring communities who lacked the availability of a weekly newspaper.
Without the newspaper, how would I know about the actions of our city or county government? How would I know about our young folks in their academic, sports or artistic endeavors? How would I know about upcoming bar-b-ques to benefit a specific need?
I will keep buying The Gasconade County Republican and keep reading it from front to back as long as I can. You should too!
With appreciation to The Gasconade County Republican Warden family and current staff,
E. Louise Baker
