LINN  — As part of Catholic Schools Week, St. George School presented Alfred Brandt with this year’s National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) Distinguished Graduate Award.

A 1981 St. George graduate, Alfred and his wife, Sonya, have one son, Sam, a sixth-grader at St. George. After graduating from Linn High School in 1985, Alfred continued his education at Lincoln University. Throughout his career, Alfred has never strayed from his passion, building a legacy for himself and inspiring others along the way.

“For those unfamiliar with Alfred’s journey, it’s a tapestry woven with threads of unwavering dedication, leadership, and a deep-seated love for all things dairy,” said Principal Lisa Grellner. “He isn’t just a farmer; he’s a pillar of the dairy industry. Alfred’s contributions have shaped the very landscape of his beloved field, from chairing the State Milk Board and National Cattlemen’s Beef Board to leading Missouri Dairy and the Missouri Holstein Association.”

Grellner added that recognition for his efforts includes the Dairy Farmers of America Member of Distinction and the National Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer. “Alfred’s achievements stand as testaments to his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment,” she said. “But Alfred’s dedication extends far beyond the milk aisle.”

He served his community with the same tenacity on the Linn R-2 School Board, Linn Lions Club, and the Osage County Fair Board. “He’s a true believer in building bridges and empowering his community to thrive.

Alfred is also very active at church. “His roots in faith run deep, exemplified by his active role at St. George Parish,” said Grellner. “From Chairing Fall Festivals to serving on the Parish Council, he exemplifies how service to his community and church are intertwined parts of who he is. Through his remarkable life, Alfred embodies the essence of the NCEA Distinguished Graduate Award. He speaks of a sense of self-worth nurtured by the caring St. George parish community and the timeless teachings of the Church. His story reminds us that success comes not just from hard work but also from compassion, service, and faith.”

Alfred is the son of Don and Christy Brandt, who also received this award. “He is a proud member of a large family that is deeply rooted in the Catholic faith,” said Grellner. “His faith continues the legacy set by his parents. Their dedication to service both for the church and school exemplifies the true spirit of selflessness and commitment. May their commitment to the principles of Catholic education and service inspire us during Catholic Schools Week and beyond!”
