Chamois had three runners compete Oct. 3 at the Calvary Lutheran meet at Holt Summit, where Carly Schollmeyer led the Pirates with a 13th-place medal and a personal-best time of 24:24.60.
Emma Mehmert placed 22nd in 25:49.10, while Grayson Gerloff finished 25th in 20:18.70. All three ran faster than they had at the meet a year ago, despite competing on a different course.
“The Calvary Lutheran meet is starting to get bigger, but it is really good for the teams because they can run against district and conference teams,” Coach John Leach said. “They will get to see what is to come and start working toward a goal for conference and district meets.”
Gerloff was Chamois’ lone runner Sept. 29 at the St. James meet, finishing 48th in 20:54.60 while the girls were away for a volleyball game.
“He is starting to get his time down each meet,” Leach said. “I am proud of his attitude change in his running.”
