Christmas event missed

Posted

This letter is being written in response to your article “Four communities plan two days of Christmas events Dec. 5-6” in last week’s Gasconade County Republican. Surely it was simply an oversight by the staff writer but I am compelled to submit this letter as the president of the Gerald Area Chamber of Commerce.

We too are holding our annual Christmas event “The Parade of Lights” and would appreciate equal recognition by your paper.

Our event this year is on December 6th with parade entries being lined up by Parade Master Gene Watson along North Main Street at 5:30 p.m.. The parade kicks off at 6 and travels along Main Street to 5th Street to Cedar Street to 6th Street and ends at Legion Park. This year’s judging of parade entries will determine First Place which shall receive $100.00 and runner up $75.00.

Once the parade arrives at Legion Park with Santa and Mrs. Claus, other Christmas festivities begin. Activities include: Santa and Mrs. Claus handing out a small gift bag to the children - feel free to take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Chamber is suppling hot chocolate with a candy cane, a bon fire weather permitting, GES / OES choir will be there to sing for us and lastly the Gerald Lions will have available food for purchase.
