Fatima’s offense erupted in a 10-0 victory over New Bloomfield Tuesday before the Comets found themselves on the other side of a pitching duel in a 2-0 loss at North Callaway Wednesday.

Fatima collected 10 hits and scored five runs in the second inning on the way to ending the New Bloomfield game after five innings.

Alyssa Reichel started the second-inning surge with a two-run double before Sadi Lehmen singled home another run. Maci Wilbers and Rylie Wieberg followed with RBI doubles as the Comets quickly built a 5-0 advantage.

Lucy Warren’s groundout brought home another run in the third inning, and Fatima continued adding to the lead before finishing with 10 runs on 10 hits.

Wilbers, Lehmen and Wieberg each went 2-for-3. Wilbers drove in three runs, Lehmen had one RBI and scored twice, and Wieberg drove in another. Reichel finished with two RBIs and scored twice, while Ava Heckemeyer and Marlee Oliver each drove in a run.

Carmen Luebbering handled the first four innings in the circle, allowing one hit while striking out six and walking two. Heckemeyer worked a scoreless fifth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Fatima had considerably less success offensively Wednesday as North Callaway pitcher Megan Schmidt limited the Lady Comets to three hits.

The game remained scoreless until North Callaway broke through for two runs in the sixth inning.

Wieberg, Kamryn Lee and Oliver accounted for Fatima’s three hits, with Wieberg collecting the Comets’ only extra-base hit on a double.

Heckemeyer kept Fatima within striking distance through five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four without issuing a walk. Wieberg pitched a scoreless sixth inning, allowing one hit.
