CHAMOIS — Lacey Garrett, 35, is running for the position of Chamois mayor in the April 7 election, citing a desire to support and strengthen the community she now calls home.
“I love this community and want to see it prosper,” Garrett said.
Garrett has lived in Chamois for the past 7.5 years and is raising a blended family with her boyfriend, Dylan, including his two daughters and her two sons.
She brings a diverse professional background to the race, working as a teacher at Osage R-1 while also serving as a volunteer firefighter. Her experience spans education, administrative work, and hands-on problem-solving.
“I love to be involved in things that bring the community together,” she said.
Garrett identified community care and connection as key strengths of Chamois.
“We care about the community and those living within it,” she said.
She said economic conditions will be a central challenge moving forward and emphasized the need for collaboration and responsible planning.
“My top priorities if elected would be to bring the community together through open communication and collaboration, while also navigating the challenges of the current economy by promoting responsible budgeting and supporting local needs,” Garrett said.
Garrett noted she would approach the role by listening to residents and working with stakeholders to find practical solutions.
“I would make improvements by actively listening to community members, collaborating with stakeholders, and using data-driven decisions to implement practical, effective solutions,” she said.
Garrett said her commitment to the community would guide her service if elected.
“I am dedicated, and I have the best interests of the community at heart,” she said.
She said she would be available to residents by phone, email, or text.
