Gayle L. Hackmann, 75, Morrison, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1951, to the late Oscar J. and Deola (Stephan) Birk in Morrison.
She was united in marriage to Dennis Hackmann on Jan. 21, 1967, at Assumption Church in Morrison.
Gayle was a member of Assumption Church in Morrison and the Ladies of Mary.
She worked for the Osage County R-1 School District, where she started as the librarian and then became the secretary to the principal and superintendent. Gayle worked there for 47 years.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, walking, listening to music with her family, flower gardening, and traveling.
Gayle was preceded in death by parents Oscar and Deola.
She is survived by daughter, Gina Genenbacher and husband Russ of Quincy, Ill.; son, Gary Hackmann and wife Ashley of Quincy, Ill.; grandchildren, Brett and Blair Genenbacher and Madelyn Hackmann; great-granddaughter, Harper Genenbacher; brothers, Roger Birk and wife Mindy of Juneau, Alaska and Sam Birk and wife Stephanie of Morrison; sister, Betty Haeffner of Morrison; sisters-in-law, Doris Rost of Morrison and Debra Hackmann of Columbia; and brothers-in-law, Donald Hackmann of Cape Girardeau and Douglas Hackmann of Columbia.
Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Assumption Church in Morrison, with Father David Means officiating. Interment was in Assumption Cemetery.
Memorial contributions suggested to Assumption Church or Osage County R-1 School in Chamois.
