I
can’t believe I get to live here. Thank you Lord. #GodBlessAmerica #Grateful. Those are the words on an Instagram post by country and western singer Carrie Underwood. In the video — about 2.5 minutes long — Underwood sits in the passenger seat and records as someone drives the car around her fenced farm in Tennessee.
Attached to each fence post is an American flag waving in the wind. It is estimated that there are 1,800 flags in total.
It is more than a stunning display of her patriotism on America’s 250th birthday. This applies to all of us every day of the year.
As of Sunday, her posting had 174,000 likes and over 6,000 comments. Most of the comments were positive, while others, like far-left commentator Joy Behar from ABC’s “The View,” were critical.
On Saturday, Connie and I drove to Bland for their annual Fourth of July celebration. New this year, due to a generous donation, were 250 American flags along the highway. It was a wonderful display of patriotism.
Sometimes we all need a little reminder of how lucky we are to call America home. Those reminders have come from the soccer fans visiting the Land of the Free during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Liberal talk show host Bill Maher, on HBO’s “Real Time,” pointed this out last week.
“I am loving that the World Cup has brought to our shores all of these people that are doing Americans the service of reminding us, just when we needed it, on our big (250th) birthday, that actually, this place is kind of awesome,” Maher said.
He continued, “Social media, flooded with videos of slack-jawed soccer tourists wandering around America, positively gushing about everything we take for granted, reminding us what America looks like from the outside.”
Maher concluded the segment with, “Maybe it’s a coincidence, but I think it’s something in the American system and character that we have the highest number of Nobel Prize winners, and invented the light bulb, the telephone, the smartphone, the airplane, personal computers, and the party-sized bag of Xtra Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.”
And yet only 36 percent of Democrats consider themselves proud to be an American.
Talking about the freedoms we enjoy, actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise on OutKick’s “Tomi Lahren is Fearless,” said, “I don’t take my freedom for granted. I don’t take Buc-ee’s for granted, I don’t take air conditioning for granted, I don’t take any of these things for granted because I know there are places on Earth that really don’t really understand what those kinds of things are.”
Here are more reasons we should all be proud to be Americans.
• U.S. corporations and citizens make more charitable donations than the rest of the world combined.
• Americans corrected their biggest historical sin, slavery, by fighting a war that cost a half-million soldiers their lives.
• The U.S. saved the world from Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and other totalitarian regimes.
• America spent billions as part of the Marshall Plan, which transformed a continent ravaged by World War II into thriving, stable European nations.
• A person living in poverty in America has a standard of living that would be considered wealthy in most countries. Most Americans living below the poverty line are well-fed, have cars, TVs, clothing, a roof over their heads, healthcare, and many other items that would be considered luxuries in 3rd World countries.
• No country in the world has as much racial and cultural diversity.
• No country in the world is as tolerant of religious and non-religious beliefs.
• No nation takes in more legal immigrants.
• American laws and its litigation system prevent discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.
• America has true freedom of speech and press.
• The U.S. has a free market system that has led to the world’s highest per-capita income and standard of living.
• Health care accessibility to top physicians, medications, surgeries, technology, and other modern medicine is second to none.
• Most of the greatest medical discoveries and life-changing pharmaceuticals have come from American companies.
• America’s space exploration and contribution to the knowledge of the universe is second to none.
• Our checks and balances system of government prevents tyranny and ensures smooth transitions of power.
• American farmers produce more food than any country on Earth.
• No matter the circumstances in life, America has more opportunities than any other to become wealthy, change the world, and achieve greatness.
I thank God every day I was born in America.
