In their last regular-season game, the Lady Cats defeated Eugene on Tuesday, 62-32, after losing to Russellville the previous Friday.

“We had a good team win,” said Coach Caleb Thomas. “It’s always nice to close the last home game out with a W. Everyone got in on the fun, and every Lady Wildcat contributed in the scoring column. But what I really love is that every single player was in the rebound and deflection columns. We had consistent effort on the defensive end of the floor.”

Building on a 17-11 lead through the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats used a 15-5 advantage in the second to claim a 32-16 halftime edge. That trend continued with a 20-6 third quarter as Linn shot 49.1% overall.

Carley Brandt (26 points, 12 rebounds) claimed another double-double while Heslie Higginbotham (3-6 FT) put in 13 and had seven boards. Nicole Grellner (trey) added eight, Jorja Kempker (trey) put in six, Paige Senevey added four, and Ali Russell hit a three-pointer. Kenzy Hackmann and Russell posted five assists apiece.

Senevey claimed seven rebounds on the night, with five by Grellner and four by Hackmann, as Russell grabbed two, and Kempker finished with one.

Brandt posted a team-high four steals, and Grellner added two, as Senevey had the team’s lone block.

On Monday, the Lady Cats handled New Bloomfield, 72-19, to advance to Wednesday’s semifinal against the Lady Cardinals at Tipton, with tipoff at 6 p.m.
