Linn sophomore Colton Leivian earned a trip to the Missouri State Golf Championship after leading the Wildcats at the Class 1 District 1 Tournament Monday at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington.
“Advancing to state as a sophomore is a huge accomplishment, and the team is excited to see him represent Linn on the big stage,” said Coach John Viehland. “Congratulations to Colton on advancing to state, and great job by the entire team on a successful season.”
Leivian carded a 95 to make the state cut and finish as Linn’s top golfer on the day to represent the Wildcats at the state tournament in Springfield.
Linn finished ninth in the team standings with a 459.
Senior Jake Bish added a 112 for the Wildcats, while freshman Bentley Hertzing shot a 116. Freshman Ryatt Reynolds rounded out the Linn tally with a 136.
Viehland said competing in the postseason provided valuable experience for the Wildcats, especially with a young roster continuing to develop.
“The future continues to look bright for Linn District Golf, with young talent gaining valuable postseason experience and strong leadership from the senior class,” Viehland said.
