Linn’s high school track and field team competed at the Hermann Invitational, achieving several top finishes, including a win in the 4x200, with team members James Brandt, Cody Heckman, Paul Lopez, and Thomas Scheulen running a time of 1:37.05. The 4x100 relay team of Brandt, Scheulen, C. Heckman, and Aaden Nelson placed third (45.93).

“The boys’ 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams have been working to get back to last year’s times, and though they didn’t quite get it this time, they had much better handoffs and were working and running more as a team,” said Coach Robyn Baker.

Isaiah Franken earned third in the pole vault (3.65m), setting a personal record.

The 4x800 team of Reid Baker, Jackson Hamburg, Vince Tschappler, and Emmit Mehmert claimed third (9:53.27).

Heckman placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.60), Knox Sowders was fourth in the javelin (37.18m), and Nelson added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (11.91m).

On the girls’ side, the 4x800 team of Ruby Herndon, Genna Haslag, Sophia Lopez, and Adalyn Brandt placed third (13:05.48).

Madison Wood recorded a fourth-place finish in the shot put (10.23m) and also had a strong effort in the discus. “She was excited to throw in the double digits in shot put,” said Baker, who noted strong improvement across events, including personal bests from Connor Knoll and Ian Laughlin in the shot put. “That’s great to see as we get closer to conference and districts.”

Samuel Heckman continues to improve in the hurdles, and Bria Kempker turned in personal-best efforts in both hurdle events.
