LINN — Linn Subway will reopen Monday, Sept. 28, under new owners Marty and Savannah Gerloff, who recently purchased the restaurant from longtime owner Kathi Schollmeyer.
Mossy Oak Properties Central Missouri Land and Homes, LLC, brokered the sale, with agent Denise Nolte representing the transaction. The sale was finalized after receiving required approval from Subway corporate.
The Gerloffs plan to hold a grand opening in the coming weeks after they have had time to get operations running smoothly.
Schollmeyer operated the Linn Subway for 26 years and said one of the greatest rewards was watching generations of local young people grow up, eventually becoming employees of the restaurant.
“When I opened the doors to Subway, I envisioned it as another food option for our community. What I did not realize at the time, however, was that I would get a front-row seat into your lives and those of your children,” Schollmeyer said.
She also credited State Technical College of Missouri and Legends Bank with contributing to the restaurant’s success over the years.
“To the local institutions, our incredible young team members, and the countless neighbors who welcomed and supported us from day one: thank you,” Schollmeyer said. “You did not just help a local business survive; you made this journey deeply meaningful and exceptionally rewarding. Good luck to the Gerloff family as they begin this journey. I know you are prepared, and I hope you have the best time in this business.”
The Gerloffs said they recognize the responsibility of taking over a business with such a long history in Linn.
“Taking over this business marks an exciting new chapter for our family, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to continue serving the Linn community,” Marty and Savannah Gerloff said.
They expressed respect for what Schollmeyer built during her 26 years as owner and said they hope to preserve that foundation while bringing their own ideas to the restaurant.
“We look forward to getting to know our customers, meeting new people, and becoming an even greater part of the Linn community,” the Gerloffs said. “We hope to see many familiar faces walk through our doors, along with plenty of new ones.”
Nolte said the transaction was particularly meaningful because of her relationship with both parties.
“Helping longtime friends on both sides of this sale made the closing especially meaningful,” Nolte said. “Kathi built something that matters to Linn, and it is exciting to see Marty and Savannah carry that legacy forward for the next generation.”
Mossy Oak Properties broker/owner DeWayne Sprenger said the transaction also illustrates the range of real estate services the company provides.
“Mossy Oak Properties is widely known and trusted for land brokerage, but we also help clients buy and sell homes and commercial properties,” Sprenger said. “This sale is a good example of the full-service real estate work our team provides throughout Central Missouri.”
