Linn’s track and field teams turned in a strong overall performance at the Central State 8 Conference meet hosted by South Callaway, highlighted by multiple all-conference finishes, personal records, and continued late-season improvement.

The boys’ relay teams set the tone, led by the 800m relay team of James Brandt, Cody Heckman, Paulie Lopez, and Thomas Scheulen, which captured first place in 1:35.27. The 3200m relay team of Reid Baker, Isaiah Franken, Jackson Hamburg, and Vince Tschappler followed with a second-place finish in 9:26.78, and the 400m relay of J. Brandt, Cody Heckman, Nelson, and Scheulen (3, 46.41)

Madison Wood led the way in the girls’ field events, earning a third-place medal in the shot put (9.90m), after narrowly missing an All-Conference finish in the javelin with a fourth-place personal-best throw of 29.06m.

On the track, the girls’ 3200m relay team of Adalyn Brandt, Genna Haslag, Ruby Herndon, and Elyse Brandt placed second in 12:13.59. Herndon added an individual medal with a third-place finish in the 400m dash in 1:10.92.

Hamburg earned a third-place medal in the 3200m run (11:18.19), while Aaden Nelson placed third in the triple jump (11.93m) and fourth in the long jump (5.66m).

Coach Robyn Baker said the meet reflected both competitive success and steady development across the roster.

“It was a successful day for our athletes, highlighted by multiple personal records in both running and field events, along with several All-Conference honors,” Coach Baker said. “As coaches, we are excited to see this momentum building at the right time as we approach districts next week.”

Ian Laughlin recorded personal-best throws in both the discus and shot put, Baker noting, while Heckman, Scheulen, Emmit Mehmert, Colton Bridges, and Owen Jaegers improved their times in their respective events.

“With a challenging district meet ahead, our athletes have demonstrated their commitment, growth, and readiness to compete,” Baker added.
