OSAGE COUNTY — The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has identified the husband and wife involved in a shooting on County Road 623 that left both individuals dead.
According to a June 20 press release, Osage County Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 9:15 a.m. June 19 reporting that Lawrence David Scheppers had shot his wife, Paula Ann Scheppers, at their residence on CR 623 in Osage County.
Deputies responding to the scene found Lawrence Scheppers, 77, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Paula Ann Scheppers, 76, was located suffering from a gunshot wound and was still breathing when first responders arrived. She was transported for emergency medical treatment, but died at 8:27 p.m. on June 21.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, the Osage County Coroner’s Office, and local emergency medical personnel.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office said preliminary evidence indicates the shooting was an isolated domestic incident and that there is no known threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Osage County Sheriff’s Office at (573) 897-3927.
