Linn, MO — State Technical College of Missouri (State Tech), pending Governor Parson’s signature, will receive $15 million to expand. This significant investment will help with the expansion of State Tech's already established Heavy Equipment Operations and Management Program. This popular program will grow from 100 to 400 students (200 graduating every year and 200 interns every summer), starting in the fall of 2025.

State Tech extends a special thank you to House Budget Chair Cody Smith and Senate Budget Chair Lincoln Hough for understanding the significance of this project. This substantial investment in State Tech’s future will help continue our mission of a hands-on education that will also help workforce development for the state of Missouri.

“The I-70 project, now the I-44 project, and all of the construction going on in Missouri will compound what is already a workforce shortage. I am thankful the General Assembly was supportive of our proposal to grow our Heavy Equipment program. This investment will allow us to purchase over 50 pieces of heavy equipment,” said State Tech President Dr. Shawn Strong.

Dr. Strong is also thankful for the 3-percent increase in State Tech’s state appropriations, $4 million MoExcel funding for and Agriculture Center, and $10 million in ARPA funding for construction. This funding will help continue to make State Tech the fastest growing college in the state.
