State Tech marks a decade straight of record-breaking enrollment

LINN — State Technical College of Missouri has done it again. On Tuesday Aug. 25, State Tech welcomed a record-breaking 2,483 students to campus, marking a 5% increase in headcount over last year and the college’s 10 consecutive year of increasing enrollment.

Headcount isn’t the only record broken this year. State Tech also saw an 8% increase in credit-hour production, bringing the school’s full-time equivalent to 2,609 students. This, combined with State Tech’s best- in-the- country graduation rate, means the college produces as many graduates as a typical college or university with 6,000 students.

At the same time, the campus has undergone a transformation constructing or renovating nearly 400,000 square feet of academic space over the last few years. The campus welcomed students to the new 60,000-square-foot Willet Automation Center, and 45,000-square-foot facility for Agriculture and Heavy Equipment programs.

“For the last decade, we have focused on growing the campus and Missouri’s skilled workforce” said State Tech President, Dr. Shawn Strong. “We have doubled enrollment and doubled the physical size of campus. The campus is unrecognizable compared to a few years ago. It’s incredible what a team focused on our core mission has been able to accomplish.”

State Tech continues to be the fastest-growing college in Missouri while also having the highest graduation rate in the country, combined with their 99% job placement rate.

“At State Tech, we are dedicated to living our student-focused mission each day while supporting the workforce needs of Missouri” said VP of Academic and Student Affairs Angie Gaines. “That dedication continues to fuel our success.”

This latest enrollment record comes on the heels of State Tech once again being named the #1 two-year college in the country by Wallethub, an honor State Tech has earned seven of the last eight years among nearly 800 two-year colleges nationwide.
