State Tech seeks public input on proposed trail

LINN — State Tech, in partnership with the city of Linn, is seeking public input on a proposed recreational trail connecting the  campus to the city.

The proposed trail would begin at Lake State Tech and extend to Legends Bank, near Linn City Park. State Tech has already completed the trail loop around Lake State Tech, which continues to Airport Lane. The next phase would extend the trail from Airport Lane through several State Tech-owned parcels and continue between Linnwood Drive and Klebba Drive, ending near Hwy. 50.

“We see more pedestrians, bicyclists, and even electric scooters traveling the narrow shoulders of Highway 50,” said State Tech President Shawn Strong. “Our goal is to eliminate this safety hazard while providing an exceptional paved trail for community members to enjoy. We have been working behind the scenes for several years to put this project in place, and believe we now have all the pieces needed to make it happen.”

State Tech is applying for a Missouri Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program grant to fund a portion of the project. As part of the application process, public input is being gathered to help demonstrate community support and inform final planning.

Community members are encouraged to participate by completing a short survey.
