LINN — State Technical College of Missouri is pleased to welcome Kevin Lynn Stewart, Jr., as its new Academic Dean. A Missouri native, Stewart is excited to return home to continue his career in higher education leadership.

“I am thrilled to join State Tech and to be part of an institution so deeply committed to student success,” Stewart said. “The college’s mission to prepare students for profitable employment and a life of learning through specialized, hands-on technical education truly resonates with me. State Tech’s dedication to providing industry-driven programs that lead to high-demand careers aligns perfectly with my passion for innovation and student achievement. I’m honored to contribute to that work and to serve the people of Missouri.”

Stewart is a recognized educational leader in innovation and instruction, with extensive experience across a wide range of academic disciplines. His prior roles include Emergency Multi-Care Technician, Immunology Research Assistant, Physics Lab Assistant, Faculty Member, Associate Dean of Instruction, Dean of Business, and Dean of Instruction. He has also served as a program manager and outreach and recruitment coordinator.

His leadership and commitment to innovation and equity-minded student success have earned him numerous accolades, including the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award, Innovator of the Year Award, League of Innovation Award, and the Arizona State University + Global Silicon Valley Innovation Certificate for two consecutive years.

Stewart holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, an MBA with an emphasis in Health Care Management, and is currently pursuing an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership.

In his new role, Stewart will oversee Professional Studies, with immediate responsibility for Health Sciences and General Education, and eventual oversight of Business and Computer Development programs.

Stewart officially began his new position on Oct. 13, and the college community is excited to welcome him back to Missouri and to the State Tech family.
