The term “big tent” to describe the Democrat Party has been around for as long as I can remember, but it gained significant traction in the 1980s and 1990s. Political analysts and party leaders, including figures like President Bill Clinton, popularized the term to emphasize the party’s inclusivity and diversity of viewpoints.
Of course, there have always been limitations, the main one being abortion. To get anywhere on the national stage, a Democrat must be pro-abortion, to the point that they change their position.
Jesse Jackson is a prime example. Once an eloquent pro-life activist, he changed his stance when running for president.
Before running for national office, Joe Biden held a moderate stance on abortion, often supporting some restrictions while also advocating for women’s rights. His views evolved as he transitioned from the Senate to the presidency, becoming a strong advocate for abortion.
There are some things you have to do to be elected to national office as a Democrat. Changing your values on abortion is one of them.
If the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have their way, the “big tent” will be knocked down and a small tarp put up in its place — about the size used for camping.
The first group being kicked out of the Democrat tent are Jews and supporters of Israel. Last week in Denver, Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros upset her opponent in the primary. She is antisemitic, blaming Israel for domestic antisemitism and refusing to call a deadly local firebombing a hate crime against Jews. The Jewish community in Denver is now living in fear, just as those in New York City are, as the DSA openly promotes anti-Zionist views.
The Democrat party of the past is on life support as the DSA has nothing but praise for Communists like Mao Zedong, who was responsible for between 15 and 65 million deaths during the Chinese Revolution.
If the DSA gets their way, the U.S. Constitution will be a thing of the past. With the help and support of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), they are gaining momentum.
DSA recently proclaimed that “only socialism can solve decades of capitalist mismanagement in the U.S.”
Johnathan Turley in a recent column said, “Ironically, only in the United States are socialist figures in the top percent of earners and own multiple homes, from Bernie Sanders to Abdul El-Sayed. As Yakov Smirnoff would say, “What a country!”
Their platform calls for eliminating the U.S. Senate and replacing the president and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by Congress. This sounds identical to how the CCP runs China. It sounds like one-party control of America. It sounds like a dictatorship.
To think that a rising part of the Democrat Party espouses these policies should scare every Democrat in central Missouri. It already scares Republicans who love America.
The Democrat Party has only itself to blame concerning the rise of the DSA. Turley makes this point in a June column, “Democratic leaders are following the same self-destructive pattern of prior establishment figures in history who thought that they could use mobs against their opponents while hoping that they would be overlooked.” The mob they encouraged has now unseated several entrenched Democrats, winning 35 primary elections.
In June, the DSA mob, during a victory celebration, chanted, “you’re next.” This message was for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and the Democratic establishment.
Turns out far-left progressive Democrats are being kicked out of their own tent. But it won’t stop there.
Former Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg told moderate Democrats last Thursday on “The Source,” that they “don’t have the right values.” According to the Manhattan Institute, that is 47 percent of Democrats.
A large block of Democrat voters are displeased with all this emphasis on socialism, and they are showing it with their vote — Blacks. DSA candidates in New York lost the Black vote, which went to the established Democrat. The same is true for Latinos. In fact, the DSA is predominantly composed of white members, particularly from the professional-managerial class.
Soon, the only people allowed in the Democrat “tarp” will be communists.
