Argyle welcomes new trustee, sets meeting to discuss land transfer

ARGYLE — Argyle trustees swore in new board member Kody Biesemeyer at their meeting on Thursday, July 16, following his appointment, which means all the positions on the board are filled.

In other business, trustees invited resident Angie Troesser to the next meeting to go over details of the transfer of village land to her personal property.

“I told Angie by voicemail that I’m trying to get it figured out, so that I can hand it over to her and she can do the rest of the legwork,” said Mayor Colby Davis. “As a board, we’ve already approved giving her the vacant land. As the mayor, I act as an embodiment of the village; personally, I wouldn’t give away the land, pay money to do it, and do all the legwork. No one is going to do that. I’ve tried to explain that to her, but I haven’t heard back from her.

“She thinks we are not putting in the legwork, and we are putting in the needed legwork,” Davis continued. “We’ve been communicating with the lawyer and other entities. This issue has been ongoing long enough, and I’m ready to be done with it.”

Davis added that he found several deeds he believes are for the property, but there are unmarked portions of the map that are confusing even the Osage County Assessor’s office. There is also a disagreement between Troesser and the village attorney over what type of deed should be issued.

“I’m trying to do the best I can,” Davis said.

“This has been ongoing for a long time, and it needs to get finished,” Village treasurer Kym Brunnert said. “I can understand her frustration. I really can.”

* Davis reported that the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be replacing the bridge deck on Route T over Loose Creek, and that it will more than likely disrupt traffic in Argyle. The bridge deck (driving surface) will be replaced, new bridge barriers will be installed, and a new paved approach to the bridge will be constructed. The cost of the construction project is estimated at $635,000.

MoDOT’s proposed timeline is as follows: Contractors can submit bids in December of 2026, the contract will be awarded in January 2027, construction will begin as early as February of 2027, and the work is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2027.

The closure of the bridge is estimated to last only two months, and detours will be established for area residents. Davis is confident that area residents will be able to work together to get through the construction with a minimum amount of disruption.

* Trustees approved the following outstanding expenses: general ($1,075.73), and sewer ($3,295.46).

The village had the following ending account balances: general checking ($26,359.37), general money market ($59,587.14), sewer ($2,685.90), sewer payment ($30,608.26), and sewer debt service account ($31,991.78).

* The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m.
