What the No Kings Rally was really about

In the words of Missouri’s favorite bard, “The truth has no defense against a fool determined to believe a lie”. Unfortunately, Twain’s quote is exasperated when the same fool has the bully pulpit of a newspaper that he bought to broadcast his disinformation out to its subscribers.

On April 8th, Dennis Warden wrote an “Editorial/ Opinion” titled “Communists Recruit Puppets For Their Revolution”. I am sure that the title was intentionally sensational and inflammatory as a means of drawing his readership into his echo chamber of conspiratorial misrepresentations. As one of the individuals that attended the We Stand United “No Kings Day Rally” at the state capitol and one that also knows the leadership of that organization, I know first hand that there are no ties with the rally and any nefarious international entity. I also know that, after fact checking Mr. Warden’s piece as well as looking into the sources that he used for the article, there is no credible source that supports his narrative. Instead, it is just another conspiracy theory that can be added to Pizzagate, Jewish space lasers, and airline contrails used to sterilize the population below.

Instead of a communist takeover, which has nothing to do with the past events, he should be more concerned with the United States becoming am illiberal democracy on its way to becoming authoritarian, where citizens lose representation at both state and federal level and their right to be heard through the ballot box. A narcissistic, corrupt, and unitary executive with no checks and balances to curb his actions, is what we as Americans should really fear. That is what the No Kings Rally was really about.

Democracy hinges on an educated public with a free press that vets its articles, even when biased, so that they are based on fact.
