America Stands with Israel

The news coming from Israel is downright shocking. Horrific images and videos of heartless terrorists celebrating their destruction strike anger in our hearts and pain in our souls. Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East, has the right and duty to defend itself against these criminals.

As we discuss the United States’ response, I’m sure many of you wonder what we can do to support our ally. Fortunately, investments in our military personnel, the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen, have prepared us to send a powerful message.

Last weekend, the Pentagon announced plans to relocate Navy warships with advanced weaponry closer to Israeli territory as a firm warning to the Hamas terrorists. We’ve also sent spare munitions to support the Israeli defense and counterattack.

Additionally, the United States Air Force has increased the number of attack planes and fighter jets in the area to clamp down on the conflict and ensure hostile neighbors like Iran and Syria don’t mobilize.

Many American communities intertwine with those of Israel. You may have heard about the more than two dozen Americans killed in Hamas’ recent terrorist attacks. There are plans to evacuate thousands of our own from the area and I have the utmost faith in our armed forces to get it done.

As the bitter conflict continues, it serves as a reminder of our enemies’ wickedness. Whether carrying out heinous attacks or financing from behind the scenes, these acts often involve several parties with a common goal.

For this reason, we must not give our enemies any advantage. Many on the left have quickly shielded the White House for unfreezing Iran’s access to $6 billion of oil revenue, which it may have used to fund Hamas’ campaign of terror. They’ll point out the money is yet to hit Iran’s bank account, as if the radically anti-democratic country isn’t capable of moving money around while counting on the funds to become available soon.

I support the president’s recent, surprising decisions to direct military support to Israel, and the later decision to refreeze Iran’s assets, but I fear the administration’s record of weak foreign policy has emboldened our enemies.

It begins with failing to invest in American energy independence, utilizing our resources here at home instead of playing games with Russian and Middle Eastern producers. True strength means securing vulnerabilities that could otherwise cripple our entire nation.

Sadly, I question whether foreign adversaries appropriately respect our armed services under President Biden’s leadership. In line with the rest of his agenda, the military has spent recent years focusing on woke posturing over sound defense. If not for the consistently strong support from past administrations, I fear we would be horribly ill-equipped to respond to these threats.

I hope the president and his party now understand the real threats we and our allies face.

I’m grateful for the quick action from our military personnel and pray for their safety while serving in the Middle East. As long as the United States still stands for freedom, Israel will not fall at the hands of cowardly thugs.
