Linn Head Start holds 100 Man Breakfast

LINN — The Central Community Action Linn Head Start did things a little differently this year, holding their annual 100 Man Lunch during breakfast instead.

Members of Osage Ambulance District and the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Head Start employees, and several dads were on hand to serve as positive male role models; talking, playing, and complimenting shoes, names, and dance moves.

After breakfast, the kids were treated to tours of two ambulances, given by Paramedic/Supervisor Josh Cohen and Paramedic Blake Paul, who turned on their lights and sounded the siren, to the kids’ delight.

Osage County Sheriff’s Office Captain Travis Shaffer, with sheriff’s posse member Benton Frost, handed out junior deputy stickers before letting kids pretend to drive his truck. He then showed kids the gear (and his daughter’s stray doll) stored in back, and demonstrated how some items were used.

“This will be my fourth year in the Linn Head Start,” said Site Director Brooke Weed. “And this event has quickly become my favorite that we hold. I absolutely love having the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and Osage Ambulance District come to our center and support the kids. The kids enjoy seeing the emergency vehicles, exploring all the equipment, and, more than anything else, visiting with all the first responders. I so much appreciate the support of our community during this event.”
