Anything to satisfy the moment

Posted

Dear Editor,

Two weeks ago, when the street department completed their disgraceful repair of Jefferson Street in front of my driveway, they left a clump of concrete to harden directly in front of my driveway. This causes a hazard to my driving in and out of my driveway.

When I brought this to the attention of the Street Department the supervisor came by to look at it and assured me that within a week that would be taken care of and repavement of the street completed.

Two weeks have passed and still nothing has been done to remove the hardened clump of concrete in front of my driveway nor has the repair of Jefferson Street been completed.

I could take a sledgehammer and level the clump myself but then the street department would sue me for tearing up the street as it part of the concrete they poured to repair the street.

One thing I have learned, in the last month, about the city government infrastructure, they will tell you anything you want to hear to satisfy the moment. Getting them to follow up on their promise is a total different ballgame.

Elections are coming up!

Respectfully,
