ARGYLE — The village of Argyle is only able to offer a quitclaim deed for the property trustees plan to give resident Angie Thompson, according to Missouri state statute, Mayor Colby Davis reported at the board’s Aug. 20 meeting.
“Basically, that’s what our lawyer said a long time ago, but Angie did not want to accept the quitclaim deed, but according to Missouri state statute, it says a village can not give anyone a general warranty deed,” said Village Treasurer Kym Brunnert.
Davis said that if that is the only option, the matter should be resolved fairly quickly.
Davis also noted that Angie’s last name was spelled incorrectly in last month’s article in the Unterrified Democrat.
In other business, the village purchased five tons of cold patch for $580.96.
“There were several residents who ended up patching potholes in the streets on their own,” Davis said. “I’m really grateful to them.”
Davis said that there is a nice stockpile of cold patch left over for future repairs and the bulk purchase was cheaper than buying 50-pound bags from Lowe’s.
* Trustee Kody Biesemeyer will research the best option for internet service for the Village Hall.
* The village will look into additional signage to clearly mark a route to the fire station. Argyle may put up a stop sign, yield signs, or mark the street as a fire route. Trustees will consult with the fire chief as soon as they have a chance, and Brunnert will research the best place to buy street signs.
* Trustees tabled the election of committee positions until the next meeting.
* The board approved the following expenses: general ($28,725.90), and sewer ($3,347.24).
* The village of Argyle has the following ending account balances: general ($28,725.90), general money market account ($59,614.97), sewer ($6,192.22), sewer money market account ($30,622.56), and sewer debt service account ($32,001.29).
* The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
