Carol A. Herndon, 81, Wentzville, passed away on
Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1944, to the late Alphonse and Bernadette Himmelsbach.
She had a kind and caring heart, finding joy in caring for children and assisting the elderly. She generously volunteered her time at Green Lantern Senior Center.
Carol enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, but above all, she cherished her family and loved spending time with them.
Carol was preceded in death by husband,William Herndon; parents, Alphonse and Bernadette Himmelsbach (née Ohmes); brother, Larry Himmelsbach; and sister, Bernice Nanny.
She is survived by son, Omar Herndon and wife Jackie of Linn; and daughter, Julie Stewart and husband David of Defiance; brothers, Al Himmelsbach and wife Marge of Bowling Green, Kirk Himmelsbach of Troy and Wayne Himmelsbach of St. Charles; sisters, Margie Pickering and husband Tom of St. Charles and Mary Jean Whithouse and husband Mike of Evenston, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held (today) Wednesday, May 27, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wentzville. Interment was in the Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery in Chamois.
Memorial contributions suggested to Wentzville Senior Center (Aging Ahead @ the WREC) or Pitman Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
