Robert Burdette Goben Jr., 63, Jefferson City, passed away on Sept. 26, 2026, in Jefferson City surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on May 26, 1963, to Robert Burdette Goben Sr. and Shirley Ann Harris in Kirksville.
He spent most of his adult life in mid-Missouri, from Sedalia to St. Louis, before making his most recent home in the heart of the Osage.
Early in his career, Rob worked at Command Web and Scholastic. Over the decades, he took on a variety of roles in the construction trades, including HVAC installation.
He found joy in the outdoors and in the simple pleasures of life. Whether tending a garden full of plants and vegetables, searching for arrowheads, spending time along local rivers and streams, working with his hands to create and build, or simply enjoying time with his children, he knew how to make the most of the world around him.
Those who knew Rob will remember his huge heart and his gift for bringing laughter and energy to any gathering. He had a way of lighting up a room, making people feel welcome, and turning ordinary moments into memorable ones.
Rob will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May his memory live on through the stories of his wild adventures, his shenanigans, his laughter, and all the lives he touched along the way.
He was preceded in death by father, Robert Burdette Goben, Sr.
Rob is survived by mother, Shirley; brothers, Jeffrey Allen Goben, John Corwin Goben and Randy Barry Goben; eldest son, Curtis Lee Goben and friend Kayla Linnenbrink; granddaughter, Everly Quinn Goben; Jennifer Stout, mother of his youngest two children, Olivia Kaye and Joseph Lawrence Gene Stout; Katey Becker; and granddaughter, Bella Bierschbach.
