In a final tune-up before this weekend’s Class 1, District 1 tournament, the Fatima Comets won their final dual of the regular season at Stover, matching the host team, 30-30, and edging Smith-Cotton, 34-30, on Tuesday of last week.
“I thought we wrestled well in the duals,” said Coach Kurt Strope. “A few things were highlighted that we need to work on, but overall, I think we are ready for districts.”
In contested matches against Stover, Caden Rosentreter (106) defeated Gregory Sherrell (Dec, 15-13), Tucker Tune (120) won over Brodie Zeller (Dec, 6-1), and Tucker Schroeder (144) beat Xavier Toler (fall ,1:44).
Claiming contested wins against Smith-Cotton were Tucker Tune over Charlie Wansing (fall, 2:20), Nolan Laux (138), who defeated Remington Walter (MD, 12-2), and Zachary Kloeppel (150), who beat Beckett Eisenmenger (fall, 1:42), and Jesse Schroeder (175), who knocked off Kasen Yates (fall, 2:44).
The Comets will compete at the district tournament on Friday and Saturday at Benton.
