Fatima continued its winning ways with a pair of victories last week to improve to 5-0 on the season.

On Thursday, the Comets knocked off Dixon 4-1 after an early Bulldogs lead.

“Give credit to Dixon,” said Coach Matt Eisterhold.

“They came out with energy and with a purpose. This led to a 1-0 deficit that we had to overcome.”

Dixon scored at 13:27 in the first half, but Dalton Gentges evened things up for the Comets with a goal at 25:39 on an assist from Nathan Troesser.

With a 1-1 score at the break, Eisterhold again made some major halftime adjustments to the team’s original game plan.

“The boys responded well to get the win,” the coach said. “Early in the season, we have had very balanced contributions on the offensive end, and we’ve been solid defending and getting possession out of the back. Joseph (Schwartz) has played excellent in the goal, and kept us in a lot of games early.”

As the second half opened with a renewed purpose, the Comets scored early as Blake Gentges hit a solo shot at 1:52. Trey Herzing added the third goal at 23:18 with a feed from Sam Gentges, and Joey Muenks scored the final goal of the game with an assist from Blake Gentges at 32:52.

For the game, the Comets outshot Dixon 26-4, with a 19-3 edge in shots on goal, and took eight corner kicks, while the Bulldogs had none.

Schwartz finished with a pair of saves.

Tuesday’s 5-1 win over Capital City was a little closer than the score indicates.

“This was a tough game against a wellcoached team,” said Eisterhold. “We did not have as much time to plan as usual, playing back-toback games Monday and Tuesday. The boys did not come out very sharp at all.

We were fortunate to only allow one goal, and very fortunate to have the lead at halftime. I will give credit to the boys; for how badly we played in the first half, it was good to have a 2-1 lead at halftime. The boys toughed out a rough half to get a halftime lead.”

Capital City’s goal came at 30:50, but Fatima answered quickly as Herzing took a pass from Blake Gentges and tied up the game at 31:15.
