Fatima track and field athletes opened the season March 27 at the New Bloomfield meet, with the boys winning the team title and the girls placing fifth.
The boys were led by four individual champions. Drew Riegel won the pole vault (4.10m), Zach Kloeppel captured the 800 (2:09.92), Michael Gabelsberger won the 1600 (4:58.66), and Trenton Orscheln took first in the 3200 (10:57.91). Zack Eisterhold placed second in the 400 (55.91), while Wyatt Dake finished second in the 1600 (5:02.25) and Beau Havens placed second in the high jump (1.75m). Grant Wilbers added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (17.10) and a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles (46.19), while Cooper Berhorst placed third in the triple jump (11.63m). The 4x400 relay team of Eisterhold, Dake, Gabelsberger, and Kloeppel placed second in 3:42.79.
On the girls’ side, Brie Massman earned the team’s lone victory, winning the 800 (2:30.36), while Melissa Verslues placed second (2:38.80). The 4x400 relay team of Karly Bock, Addy Bower, Alex Berhorst, and Massman placed second in 4:31.57, and Maggie Peters added a second-place finish in the pole vault (2.90m). Bower earned third in the high jump (1.40m).
