Kathryn M. Doerhoff, 58, of Jefferson City, has been charged with stealing $8,635 from the Linn Graduation Project following an investigation by Det. Sgt. Mark Williams of the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court documents, Williams noted that Doerhoff, acting under the guise of, or, doing business as "Loads of Fund$ and Pleasant Dreams,” accepted payment in November 2020 from the 2021 Project Graduation Committee but did not deliver laundry soap for which she was paid $6,022.
Sgt. Williams explained that the additional amount of $2,613 reflects the profits the Linn Project Graduation Committee would have earned with the sale of the soap, had it been delivered. That means Doerhoff is being prosecuted for the entire amount of $8,635.
Williams also said that Doerhoff has been given numerous opportunities to either produce the product for which she was paid or to issue a refund. Texts between Doerhoff and both the committee and Williams, promising delivery of a refund have not come to fruition.
Doerhoff has a history of misappropriation of funds, with a federal conviction in September 2006 for misappropriation of postal funds, for which she was sentenced to three years of probation.
A warrant for Doerhoff’s arrest was issued Thursday with a $10,000 bond, and arraignment scheduled for April 27.
At the time of publication, Doerhoff was not in custody.
